Does the air smell sweeter? Does the sun shine brighter? Do things taste better when you make thousands of dollars a minute? I don't know about any of that and I probably never will, but what I do know is that La Riqueza is AWESOME and back on our shelves!!!!

La Riqueza is another brilliant collaboration by Pete Johnson (owner of Tatuaje) and Don Pepin Garcia(El Rey de los Habanos;Garcia & Fernandez). What makes this cigar different than every other medium-full bodied Nicaraguan? EVERYTHING!

La Riqueza comes in five sizes, all presented in beautiful Cuban style dress boxes. They box the cigars when they are still wet and pack them very tightly. This gives the cigars a soft box pressed look without actually having to press them.

They also chose a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper. These wrappers grown in the Connecticut river valley are hearty and rich tasting yet rough and dry to the touch. There are few marcas that utilize this leaf as it is significantly more expensive to procure. However, as a cigar smoker and a Connecticut native I am grateful Pete and José chose broadleaf as the wrapper for this cigar. It sets this smoke apart from their usual formula of Nicaraguan puros.

La Riqueza smells like damp earth and barnyard. I can't explain how enticing the aroma of a freshly opened box is. The initial flavors are of chocolate and salt. Saltiness is not something I often detect in a cigar but in this blend it is absolutely delightful. The cigar burns razor strait and the ash is a dense light gray speckled with darker gray spots. The smooth, complex balance of sweet cocoa and coffee commingling with that salty undertone is something I've never experienced in another cigar. These are a MUST TRY. It might not be for everyone but for smokers who enjoy a more intricate tasting cigar this may be your new favorite cigar.

Thank you for checking in with us and as always....

Long ashes,

Patrick

Cigar Mastershttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04497512357915390105noreply@blogger.com0
